Tykier Walker and Jesus Montes both made an impression last year at Fight For It XVII.
Against the aggressive Nick Rozelle, Walker showed discipline and composure as he controlled the pace and landed crisp shots without overcommitting. With a deliberate, steady pressure, he earned a unanimous decision victory.
That same night, Montes went toe-to-toe with Jake Morris for three rounds, and kept constant pressure with crisp hands and slick movement that earned him a unanimous decision victory.
When Walker (2-1) and Montes (2-0) return to Charlotte’s Grady Cole Center on Jan. 27, they’ll both be looking to build on the momentum of their recent victories under the same roof. Montes has shown an ability to press forward while remaining evasive and landing heavy punches, but Walker has shown sharp counter-striking skills and a patient, deliberate approach to wearing down his opponent.
Though both Walker and Montes are still early into their combat sports careers, spectators can expect a technical bout that excites with a high volume of strikes exchanged between these two able tacticians.
