Debuting kickboxers Anish Surti and Joe Martinez arrive at Fight For It X, each hungry for a win, and each representing North Carolina academies with strong competitive pedigrees.
For 19-year-old Surti, fighting out of Schell Shock BJJ and Knuckle Up Boxing, this will precede a debut appearance at the IKF Eastern Spring Classic in March. With BJJ tournament experience, and now a move to the standup game, look for Surti to transition to MMA in the coming years.
Joe Martinez, 24, is also making his debut, bringing his experience not only training, but also coaching boxing at Atlantic MMA with him into the ring.
Surti seems the hungrier competitor, seeking to make big moves on the competition circuit, but he’ll have to face an opponent whose experience is not only in the practice but also the analysis and teaching of the sweet science. Martinez’s multi-faceted understanding just may give him the X-factor in this bout.
