I want to take a moment to congratulate several members of the Fight For It family who have recently taken another major step forward in their MMA careers. Jacob Pais made his PFL debut a couple of weeks ago, and this past weekend Jonathan Martin, Trukon Carson, and Virginia’s Robbie Ring-another fighter who has competed regularly in our area-got their opportunity on the PFL stage. And, of course, North Carolina staple Bryan Battle stepped into the main event and earned his first PFL victory by split decision. These are fighters who have come through our regional MMA community, competed in local events, and continued working toward opportunities on bigger stages. Seeing them make that transition is something worth recognizing and celebrating.
But reaching the next level doesn’t mean the journey gets easier-it means the learning starts all over again. This is a new arena, with new opponents, new expectations, and a different level of pressure. They no longer get to be the big fish in the small pond. Now they have to swim with the sharks-or discover whether they are sharks themselves. That is what leveling up is about. You step up, you learn, you adjust, and then you keep moving forward. Congratulations to all of these champions on reaching another important milestone in their careers. The regional scene helped prepare you for the opportunity. Now it’s time to see just how far you can take it.
